Kings Creek Station is a former cattle station with a range of accommodation options from camping to luxury tents. At Mort Conway Camp these premium, spacious tents allow you to really experience the outback in a secluded area of Kings Creek Station (approx. 3.7km from the entrance and reception). The focus is on comfort with quality linens, king-size or twin beds, a private ensuite bathroom, reverse cycle air conditioning, and a mini-fridge.
What to do:
Discover the unique birds, plants and animals of Alice Springs Desert Park on a self-guided tour. Get up close with dingos, wander through the kangaroo enclosure and listen to fascinating presentations. Park entry includes access to talks, walking trails, the world's largest nocturnal house and more. Meet your expert guide in the Alice Springs Desert Park Courtyard and receive your own specialised head torch before starting the Nocturnal Tour. Your guide will lead you to the Mulga Walk, a large predator-proof enclosure located in the foothills of the MacDonnell Ranges. Join your guide in small groups as you walk through a rich desert habitat full of life. Stopping to spotlight endangered animals of Central Australia showcasing their natural behaviours. Get up close to animals including bilby, echidna and mala.
Come and take a step back in transport history with all of our brilliant displays at the National Road Transport Museum. You begin with the Old Ghan Museum, which houses artifacts, memorabilia and information on the original railway and how it came to be today. You can also check out our Steam Engine and Old Ghan parked right out the front of the Museum. Finishing the Ghan, you will begin your tour through Transport, starting off with our Buntine Pavilion which houses all our classic cars and trucks, as well as the RSL Museum and our Wall of Fame. On the Wall of Fame you will find over 1800 stories of men and women who have been recognised for their contribution to the transport industry. Heading out of Buntine you will be blessed with the glorious site of our Kenworth Pavilion. In here, you will find two large halls full of first edition trucks (as well as some older ones), CAT engines and so much more! The final shed on the tour is our Red Shed - and in here you will find Bertha, Australia’s First Road Train! Also housed in the Red Shed is the AEC Road Train, Julie the Rotinoff, our Mack collection and some more beautiful classic trucks.
