Itinerary

Itinerary:

DAY 1 – Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Cultural Centre and Uluru sunset

Guests starting at Ayers Rock Resort will join the group and we all then travel the short distance to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The afternoon is dedicated to exploring this extraordinary monolith starting with an interpretive walk led by your guide, who will explain the Aboriginal law and religion (Tjukurpa).  You will also learn about the art and culture of the local custodians, the Anangu people, and visit the acclaimed Cultural Centre where you can explore the displays and learn of the flora and fauna unique to this area.

Experience the famous changing colours of Uluru at sunset complete with sparkling wine and nibbles and plenty of photo opportunities. This is a great time to kick back and contemplate the vastness of the desert while getting to know your fellow travellers.

Afterwards settle in at our private camp, complete with our signature Endless Star dining experience before retiring to your swag under the amazing night sky or your comfortable safari tent complete with beds.

Included meals: Dinner

DAY 2 – Uluru and Kata Tjuta Sunrise, Kata Tjuta walks, Kings Creek Station bush camp

Rising early, take a short walk to a lookout close to our campsite to view sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta without the hustle and bustle of the public viewing areas before heading off to Kata Tjuta for a walk through the spectacular "Valley of the Winds".

Afterwards, we're off to Kings Creek Cattle Station for our second nights' remote private bush camp, complete with flushing bush toilets and hot showers. With nobody else for miles, this camp has stunning views out over the George Gill Ranges and gives you a real feel for the outback. Dinner around the campfire makes for a very social time with another night out under the stars. Tonight, listen for the sound of dingoes howling in the distance while watching the desert sky light up above you.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 3 – Watarrka (Kings Canyon) National Park, Tylers Pass, remote private bush camp

Today we head off to Watarrka (Kings Canyon) for a mind blowing 6km walk through the towering walls, crevices and plateaus of Watarrka. We will visit the Amphitheatre, Lost City and the tranquil ‘Garden of Eden’. Afterward we travel a short distance to our next stop to enjoy a well-earned lunch followed a scenic four wheel drive to Tyler’s Pass, which presents majestic 360 degree views of this stunning landscape. From here you will see views of Tnorala (Gosses Bluff crater) a sacred site which scientists believe to be the remnants of an object from space believed to be a comet, that crashed to earth around 142.5 million years ago. Tyler’s Pass on the famous Mereenie Loop road presents a great opportunity to spot some native wildlife amongst amazing scenery.

We finish the afternoon at our remote bush camp in the Western MacDonnell Ranges. Sleep tonight under the clearest skies with no light pollution. You will think that you can almost touch the stars.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 4 – West MacDonnell Ranges, including Mt Sonder Lookout, Ormiston Gorge, Ellery Creek Big Hole and the Ochre Pits

While having breakfast we view sunrise from camp and then head off to amazing views from Mt Sonder lookout, then it’s on to Ormiston Gorge to hike the Ghost Gum Walk followed by a swim in the rock hole.

Heading further east along the ranges we visit the Ochre Pits, a registered sacred site still used by traditional owners for its Ochre deposits. Today we also visit Ellery Creek Big Hole, one of the West MacDonnell Ranges most picturesque swimming and walking spots known to the locals as Udepata.

After lunch we start the drive to Owen Springs Reserve and 4WD onto Redbank Waterhole bush camp, collecting firewood along the way to keep you warm in our most remote camp of the trip. Enjoy dinner and star gazing around the campfire.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 5 – Camel Farm, Indigenous Cultural Experience and overnight camp at Yulara

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before we leave camp and begin making our way to Uluru stopping en-route at the Outback Camel Farm. Here we get to see how these amazing ships of the desert are so critical to the fabric of the red centre, as the oldest form of transport.

Our next stop is to enjoy a well-earned lunch followed by the opportunity to immerse yourself in an authentic indigenous cultural experience.  Enjoy a leisurely-guided walk with our indigenous custodians while learning about bush tucker and the healing powers of bush medicine, we also gain an insight into Aboriginal dot paintings.

We now head to Uluru for our final night in the outback.  Viewing Atila along the way and stopping at Curtin Springs cattle station for a comfort stop, you’ll arrive at dusk to our comfortable camp for a nice hot shower. Due to the short winters days’, viewing sunset on Uluru is not achievable this evening.  Settle in for our last dinner together around the campfire and marvel again at some of the clearest skies you can imagine.
