There’s no better time to be in the tropical Top End than during Darwin Festival! Running from 10 to 27 August 2023, it’s the perfect time to visit with dry days and balmy nights as Darwin buzzes with performers, artists, locals and visitors enjoying the vibrant and colourful atmosphere and festivities.
Australia’s most northern and only tropical arts festival was born out of the destruction and devastation of Cyclone Tracey over 40 years ago, with a suggestion to celebrate the town’s revival that would draw the community together and reflect the optimism of those determined to rebuild. Over the years, the Festival moved its focus toward community arts, with a vision of becoming a cultural focus through performances and arts activities. The annual celebration commands an international status of a vibrant arts and cultural event with an eclectic and substantial program of local and touring performances and events including outdoor concerts, workshops, theatre, dance music, comedy and cabaret, film and visual arts.
A great way to explore Darwin is on the Big Bus Darwin Hop on Hop off sightseeing tour which will take you to popular drop-off spots including the Botanic Gardens, Crocosaurus Cove, Stokes Hill Wharf and the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. Another must do activity is a Darwin Harbour Sunset Cruise to capture one of those famous Top End sunsets. A Litchfield National Park Waterfalls tour allows you to experience the stunning tropical nature of the park. Visits to the town of Batchelor, the magnificent Termite Mounds, Florence Falls, Tolmer Falls and the popular Wangi Falls ensures an all-round wonderful day.
Make Darwin Festival your reason to getaway to the Northern Territory.
